1. Purpose
The purpose of this Donor Policy is to affirm
PriVet Care’s
commitment to transparency, accountability, and the respectful treatment of every donor.
We recognize that every contribution — regardless of size — represents trust in our mission to provide
no-cost Atlas-based and regenerative care for veterans
through our national provider network.
2. Acceptance of Gifts
PriVet Care accepts donations and grants that support its mission and comply with IRS 501(c)(3) requirements.
- Donations may be made in the form of cash, check, credit card, online payment, stock, in-kind services, or other approved assets.
- All gifts are subject to review and approval to ensure alignment with the organization’s mission and ethical standards.
- Donors are encouraged to consult their legal and financial advisors regarding the tax implications of their contributions.
3. Donor Rights
In accordance with the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Donor Bill of Rights, all donors have the right to:
- Be informed of the organization’s mission and how funds will be used.
- Receive acknowledgment and appropriate recognition for their gifts.
- Remain anonymous if they wish.
- Review PriVet Care’s most recent financial statements.
- Expect that all information about their donation will be handled with respect and confidentiality.
- Ask questions and receive truthful, prompt answers.
4. Use of Donations
- Donations are applied to programs and initiatives consistent with PriVet Care’s mission.
- Designated gifts will be used for the purpose specified by the donor, provided such purpose aligns with our mission and legal requirements.
- Undesignated gifts will be allocated to the area of greatest need — including veteran care, operational support, or program development.
5. Restricted vs. Unrestricted Gifts
- Restricted Gifts are contributions designated by the donor for a specific program (e.g., Healing Heroes Program or Atlas Care Fund).
- Unrestricted Gifts
provide flexibility to apply funds where they are most needed to advance veteran care and wellness initiatives.
If circumstances change and the original purpose becomes impractical or impossible, PriVet Care reserves the right to redirect the funds to a similar purpose aligned with the donor’s intent.
6. Recognition of Donors
- PriVet Care may publicly recognize donors in print materials, websites, or at events unless anonymity is requested.
- Recognition tiers may include: Support, Patriot, Guardian, and Legacy Member levels.
- Donors contributing $1,000 or more may be featured as part of the “Healing Heroes — One Correction at a Time” wall or digital donor display.
7. Donor Privacy
- Donor information (including name, contact, and giving history) will not be sold, rented, or traded.
- Personal information will be used solely for PriVet Care purposes such as acknowledgments, receipts, reporting, and mission updates.
- Anonymous donations will be accepted and respected in full.
(See full Privacy Policy for more details.)
8. Acknowledgment and Receipts
- All donations of $250 or more will receive a written acknowledgment suitable for tax purposes, in compliance with IRS regulations.
- Receipts will include PriVet Care’s legal name, EIN, donation amount, and a statement confirming that no goods or services were provided in exchange for the contribution (unless applicable).
9. Refunds
PriVet Care does not provide refunds for charitable contributions unless an error has occurred during processing. Requests for correction must be made in writing within 30 days of the donation date.
10. Transparency and Accountability
- PriVet Care maintains accurate financial records in accordance with GAAP standards.
- Annual reports, audited financial statements, and IRS Form 990 will be available upon request or posted publicly on the organization’s website.
- Funds are reviewed annually by the Board of Directors and independent accountants to ensure proper use and distribution.
11. Planned Giving and Major Gifts
- PriVet Care may accept bequests, trusts, or estate gifts consistent with its mission and policies.
- Such gifts may be recognized through the Legacy Tier of donor acknowledgment.
- Legal documentation of intent and valuation will be required for all major or planned gifts.
12. Policy Review
This Donor Policy shall be reviewed annually by the Board of Directors and updated as needed to reflect changes in law, best practices, or organizational structure.
